An exciting new, non-invasive modality for degenerative joint disease
in animals.
Vet-Sonotron® Therapy was developed over
the past decade by the late award winning scientist and inventor Dr.
Alfonso DiMino. Vet-Sonotron therapy, technically known as
Pulsed Radio Frequency Therapy or PRFT works by
means of a patented Corona Discharge Beam that is produced
when a low radio frequency of 430 kHz, pulsed at a low sound
frequency of 1 kHz is applied to a an electrode situated inside a
hand-held Applicator. The Corona Discharge Beam is then directed to
the problem area, directly above the skin of the patient providing a
Treatment Unit (“TU”), which is a 15 second output followed by a 3
second shutdown. Dosage is controlled by the amount of TU’s applied,
depending on the size and density of the area to be treated. Three
different settings allow for treatment on any size animals from mice
to elephants! The treatment protocol is normally 3 to 5 treatment
visit with from 2 to 7 days between treatments. Chronic
conditions may require several treatment visits. Results tend to be
cumulative and after the last treatment, sustained pain reflief and
increased range of motion has been recorded for extended periods
approximating months.
Vet-Sonotron Therapy is one of
the quickest, if not the quickest, safest and most effective,
totally non-invasive alternative medical therapies for large and
small animals for an almost immediate relief of pain due to
osteoarthritis, joint inflammation, and performance
injuries that affect muscles and that cause swelling in
tissues. Vet-Sonotron almost immediately increases the speed and
range of motion of an arthritic joint. Pain relief can be achieved
in as fast as 15 to 45 seconds. During therapy, the device does not
touch the animal at all. The therapy is thus totally non-invasive
and external, requiring no drugs, is comfortable, painless and has
been proven safe for use. The device does not give any adverse side
effects and removes the need for drugs.
In controlled clinical
studies in humans the Sonotron yielded positive results in numerous
indications the Sonotron yielded positive results in numerous
indications: osteoarthritis, carpal tunnel syndrome, epicondylitis
(tennis elbow), plantar fascitis, TMJ, bursitis, etc.
Animal studies have
pointed to the mechanism of action being related to the reduction of
collagen protein levels in the synovial fluid of Sonotron-treated
joints versus untreated joints. Reduced collagen protein is
consistent with reduced inflammation in a joint.
There has also been in-vitro analysis of densification of
excised cartilage tissue as well as a reduction in free radicals in
the treatment area. Additional physiological factors include
improved revascularization and vasodilation in treated versus
untreated areas.
In addition to the thousands of animals that have
been treated throughout the world, double blind studies conducted on
ponies with induced arthritis by the University of Wisconsin College
of Veterinary Medicine showed that the technology reduced the level
of joint problems in the horses and increased their range of motion.
Swelling was reduced and gait analysis revealed marked improvement
in range of motion. The results of this study were published in the
Canadian Journal of Veterinary
Research.
